Britney Spears accused a member of an NBA player's security team of hitting her in the face when she tried to greet the player, Victor Wembanyama. She claims she approached the player to congratulate him on his success but was struck by a security team member, causing her glasses to fall off.
Spears is waiting for an apology from the player, his security team, and his team. Victor Wembanyama, the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft, is set to play in the NBA summer league starting Friday. The San Antonio Spurs, Wembanyama's team, and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department have not commented on the incident.
Las Vegas police responded to a battery investigation at a property on Las Vegas Boulevard but made no arrests or citations. TMZ first reported the incident, and Spears's lawyer confirmed that the Las Vegas police are investigating. Spears's lawyer declined to provide further comment at this time.
Wembanyama offered a different account, stating that he was told not to stop for anyone due to security concerns. He mentioned being grabbed from behind but did not know it was Britney Spears until later. He continued walking and enjoyed a dinner without stopping.
Spears expressed her lack of preparedness for the incident and found discussing it publicly embarrassing. However, she believes it is important to share her story and emphasizes the need for public figures to set an example and treat all people with respect.
Victor Wembanyama is a highly regarded NBA prospect known for his impressive height and skills. He had a successful season with Metropolitans 92, a French professional team, averaging over 20 points and 10 rebounds per game.
