While Final Cut Pro for iPad offers powerful features, there are some limitations compared to its macOS counterpart. Here are a few current limitations of Final Cut Pro on iPad:

  • Limited Processing Power: The processing power of the iPad is typically lower than that of a high-end Mac computer, which can affect the speed and performance of complex editing tasks or projects with a large number of high-resolution clips.
  • Storage Capacity: iPads generally have limited storage capacity compared to desktop computers, which can restrict the amount of media files and projects that can be stored locally on the device.
  • External Device Support: Final Cut Pro on iPad has limited support for external devices such as external hard drives, card readers, or specialized video and audio interfaces. This can limit the ability to import or export media from external sources or use specific professional-grade equipment.
  • Plugin and Third-Party Support: While Final Cut Pro on macOS supports a wide range of plugins and third-party extensions, the options available on the iPad version are more limited. Some plugins or specialized tools may not be compatible or available for use on the iPad.
  • Advanced Editing Features: While Final Cut Pro on iPad offers a comprehensive set of editing tools, there may be certain advanced features or workflows available on the macOS version that are not yet available on the iPad. This includes features like advanced color grading, motion graphics, and specialized effects.
  • Project Compatibility: Projects created on the iPad version of Final Cut Pro may not be fully compatible or transferable with the macOS version or other professional video editing software. This can limit collaboration or the ability to seamlessly switch between different editing environments.

Despite these limitations, Final Cut Pro on iPad still provides a robust video editing experience and is continually evolving with updates and improvements to enhance its capabilities on the platform.
